Synopsis

I consider Steichen a very great artist, and the leading, the greatest photographer of the time. Auguste Rodin, 1908

On the banks of Lake Michigan, he dreams of the artist’s life. Six years later, he meets Rodin.
He presents Picasso in his own New York gallery and reinvents modern fashion and war photography.
He mounts the « Family of Man » exhibition seen by over 9 million visitors.
For five years at the end of his life, he films a tree behind his house.
He was, above all else, the most famous portrait photographer in the world.
